Research
"Epigenetic Control of Meiotic Recombination in Maize" May 2019-August 2019
Description: Studied the maize mutant, Decreased DNA Methylation I (DDM1) to understand if genetic recombination is sensitive to DNA methylation. Used cytological and immunolabeling techniques to visualize novel proteins of meiosis I.
"Drought tolerance and high light intensity in B. depauperata and A. thaliana" January 2018-May 2018
Description: Water was withheld from Boechera depauperata and Arabidopsis thaliana until fully wilted. Chlorophyll fluorescence was measured, ion leakage data was collected, and infrared photos were taken to understand the physiological impacts of stress.
"Methanotrophs effects on drought tolerance in Boechera and Arabidopsis" June 2018-present
Description: Methane and methanotrophic bacteria inserted into soil to understand if methanotrophs help Boechera and/or Arabidopsis to alleviate need for water.
